What is freeze-drying – and why is it ingenious?
Freeze-drying is a gentle process where all liquid is removed without the use of heat. This makes it possible to preserve vitamins, proteins, enzymes and flavour from the raw ingredients – so your dog gets all the benefits of raw feeding, but in an easy and durable form.
The food regains its natural structure when you add water – making it an obvious practical alternative to BARF, especially when you're on the go.
How much your dog should have
For raw feeding, 1–2% of body weight per day is recommended. Since freeze-dried food weighs significantly less than raw food, this means:
100 g freeze-dried = approx. 300 g raw food
Example:
A 20 kg dog typically needs 200–400 g of raw food daily. The midpoint of 300 g corresponds to 100 g of freeze-dried food.
🔸 Always start by introducing new food at home, and adjust the amount according to your dog's needs and well-being.
